Who Am I ?
My name is Chloe and I am a (soon-to-be) 39 year old mum of three children. Two pinks and a blue. Olivia Grace, age 10, Milla Rose (pronounced M-ee-la, poor love spends her life saying it’s Meela not Milla!) who is 8, and Charlie, aged 4. My husband’s name is Nick and we have been together for almost 18 years.
Where do I live?
I live in West London with my husband, three kids and two very talkative siamese cats, called Samson and Delilah. We are a very noisy household! I was born in England, but grew up in South Africa, as my English mum married my South African father and they moved to Cape Town when I was 1. I went to school and university in Cape Town then travelled to England age 21, where I met and fell in love with my husband. We have been together ever since and I think of England as home.
Why the blog?
I worked in Television for 17 years as an HR/Talent Manager and decided last year that I needed to spend more time with the children. Two children and a full time job was manageable, three was an entirely different story. It felt like the right time and seventeen years with the same company is a long time. I decided that I wanted to do something that would give me the flexibility to spend time with the children in their school holidays and pick them up from school every day. So I started a blog about fashion. I have always loved clothes. Getting dressed for work in the morning was one of the highlights of my working days. Sharing ‘good buys’ with my colleagues was another. When I decided to leave my job I was worried that I wouldn’t have a reason to make the same effort each morning, so I started the blog and instagram account as a way of sharing my daily outfits, good buys and general passion for fashion. With the grand total of 2 followers in the beginning, you can imagine how silly I felt!
Where do I hope to go with it all?
I am not sure I know the answer to this. I am just going to see where it takes me. The most important thing to me is that I am fulfilling a passion and having a lot of fun. It keeps me very busy while the children are at school and it’s the fire in my belly that I hadn’t felt for years.
What’s been the highlight of my blogging journey so far?
‘Meeting’ so many like-minded, supportive and amazing ladies through the instagram network and receiving emails from people saying that I have inspired them to make an effort after losing their ‘fashion mojo’ after having children. That makes me so happy. If I have helped just one person, then I am chuffed to bits.
My ‘Go-To’ shops?
I am a big fan of the high street and my current favourite shops are H&M, Zara and Mango. I love ASOS too for panic buying. Order before 11 pm and it’s on your doorstep the next day. You can’t beat that!
How would I describe my style?
It’s fairly eclectic! I love trying out different ‘looks’ and I am a mood dresser, so I tend to dress to suit the mood I am in that morning. This makes me a terrible packer! How on earth will I know what I will feel like wearing in 5 days from now?! Some days I want to look and feel elegant and feminine, so I’ll reach for a dress, some days I want to feel comfortable, casual and a little bit edgy, so I’ll go for jeans, boots and a biker. I like to make an effort but still look ‘effortless’ and now that I am a bit older and perhaps wiser, I know what I am willing – and not willing – to do in the name of fashion. You have to learn what suits your shape, your personality and your budget! I am always trying to define my style, but I think I am probably best described as a ‘High-Low’ dresser. I love to mix designer and high street. One of my most liked outfits on instagram was a denim dress I nabbed in Primark for £2 paired with a Gucci bag and Isabel Marant espadrilles. I love finding bargains and scouring the high street for expensive looking pieces. As I get older, I am more interested in finding styles and shapes that ‘flatter’ rather than ‘flaunt’… My cleavage ain’t what it used to be!
Stay Humble. Work Hard. Be Kind.
