If there was ever a brand that was synonymous with Summer, it’s Free People. It’s always the first place I look for those boho, laidback Summer pieces. We are heading to the US at the end of this month, a (postponed) trip to celebrate a group of four best school friends turning 50, and will be starting with the New Orleans Jazz Festival. I’ve selected a few pieces with that in mind, but they’d work just as well for a beach holiday or festivals here in the UK. My Summer style tends to be fairly casual, and I tend to stick to a monochrome palette. I don’t think you can beat a white or black dress in Summer.
Starting with this cute ‘Summer Struttin’ Mini’ Dress, which I am wearing with denim shorts (which you can’t see here) and boots for a festival vibe. It has pockets (hurrah!) and a really pretty neckline with comfortable, breezy fabric. I like a dress with sleeves for those days that roll into evening. Keeps the sun off my arms during the day, and keeps the chill off when the evening hits.
Another great dress for those festival or beach days is this Islamirado Fauxchet Sweater Maxi dress.
I have paired it with sandals, but it looks great work with ankle boots too. PS. Don’t forget your nude underwear (or a swimsuit) with this one!
You’ll have seen this dress before, it’s called the ‘Ain’t She a Beaut Midi Dress’ – I really love it in white but if you’re considering this beautiful dress for a wedding, it comes in a range of different colours. (The baby blue is lovely!)
And my final choice this month, was this incredibly comfortable ‘Hailee Sweater Set. This also comes in a range of different colours, I am wearing the Powder Pink in size XS. Don’t be put off by the name, it’s more of a waffle Cotton than ‘Sweater’ which always implies some kind of wool to me. It’s very cool (as in temperature!) to wear and ever so comfortable.
