I am very excited to share this month’s Topshop edit with you. There are a few real gems that I think would help form the foundations of a capsule wardrobe and I approached this edit with the 30 wears principle in mind.
I am always checking the ‘new in’ denim section at Topshop, because I don’t think any other high street retailer does denim better than Topshop. And if there is one item in my wardrobe that I’m sure to wear thirty times it’s my jeans.
I fell for these button fly straight leg jeans and have been wearing them on repeat since they arrived. Something about the exposed buttons makes them very flattering on the tummy and my straight leg jeans are definitely my favourite style at the moment. I love the high waist on these. I wore an old pair of low-waisted jeans the other day and I felt strangely naked around my tummy all day. I definitely prefer the feeling of being held in around my tummy.
I don’t have long legs, so I am always looking for clever ways to give the illusion of longer limbs and high waisters definitely do that. I’ve paired them with a very simple but chic ivory silk shirt and these fabulous snakeskin effect heels. I think £59 for a silk shirt is such good value, and I do think it would be a great wardrobe staple. I love wearing a silk shirt with jeans. It feels polished yet casual and it’s my go-to when an evening occasion calls for ‘smart casual’.

My second look is a little more dressed up, but I couldn’t resist this gorgeous dotty one shoulder flounced top. It comes as a set with a skirt, (£64) which is lovely if you have an event to attend, but you can also buy the top on it’s own. (£25) Be warned this top needs something high waisted on the bottom half, unless you are happy to flash a little tum.
I have paired the top with these white pocket straight leg jeans (£42) and my black Strippy heels (£39) which I bought myself as soon as they came back into stock a few months ago. They have been such a brilliant buy. Topshop do great shoes and both pairs of sandals featured in this post are a comfortable heel height.

I was brought up listening to Led Zeppelin, then I met Nick who knew ALL the words to every single track, so it was no surprise that our girls were rocking to ‘Whole Lotta Love’ at the tender ages of 2 and 4. (I have the sweetest clip of them strumming their air guitars on the sofa, which will no doubt feature at their 21sts)
When it comes to band tees, I’ve always had a personal rule that I would only wear a band tee if I was a genuine fan of the band, so when I spotted this tee (£25) , I was chuffed to see it was Led Zeppelin because it was the design and the colours that caught my eye first.

This printed peplum wrap dress is new in at Topshop, but I think it is selling quickly, so there are not many sizes left online. Be warned it comes up really big (I am wearing a size 6 and it’s VERY roomy) I have dressed it up and down to show you it’s versatility. Worn with old Topshop nude heels, basket bag and pearl earrings for a smarter occasion, and flat brown sandals and my Loewe basket bag for a more casual look.
I took the following sizes –
