Burgundy Aviator of dreams…

I have a little story to tell you… A couple of weeks ago, when I got back from my holiday, we went to M&S to buy the children’s school shoes. As I walked in, I spotted an amazing aviator jacket and thought, ‘Hmmm, that won’t be around long, I had better buy it before it sells out.’ I loved the colour, the feel and the price, and even though I knew I wouldn’t be ready to wear it for a couple of months, past experience has taught me that the good pieces sell out quickly in M&S. A few days later, by bizarre co-incidence, I had an email from M&S asking if I would like to work with them on their ‘Must-Haves campaign’. I would need to choose a piece from a selection of ‘hero pieces’ and style it with an outfit of my choice. Yup, you guessed it, my new jacket was one of the hero pieces, so naturally I jumped at the chance.

I decided to keep the rest of my outfit comfortable and casual and let the jacket do the talking. Black skinny jeans, a black t-shirt and biker boots. This is the kind of outfit I like to wear on a chilly Autumnal weekend. I was thrilled to find these boots which are so comfortable and fasten with a zip up the back, so they are really easy to get on. No need to faff with the laces.  This style of boot is huge for AW, and if you take a look at your favourite designer websites you’ll find very similar looking boots for ten times the price. (And the rest!) The jeans I am wearing are a mid rise skinny jean and I am wearing a size 8/Regular. The boots are true to size and I am wearing a size 8 in the jacket. I would usually need to size down in M&S and take a size 6, but I wanted the jacket to be a little roomy to allow for knitwear underneath.

I was going to show you my purchase over on Instastories when I bought it, but the jacket wasn’t available to buy online and I thought it would be frustrating. However it went online yesterday and I couldn’t wait to let you all know. I thought I would style it a few different ways to show you how useful it would be.
