Black and white – hard to beat colours in the summer. In fact, if I look at my wardrobe, the pieces I wear time and again are predominantly monochrome. My black and white summer items are failsafe, classic and timeless. I am sure if you looked at your summer wardrobe there would be some pieces that have slightly lost their appeal over the years. In mine, these tend to be print dresses and tops, but ALL of my black and white items are pulled out and enjoyed year after year. They don’t date and I always feel a little bit more ‘pulled together’ in black or white. I happened to walk past an Oliver Bonas on my travels today and was drawn in by a mannequin wearing this exquisite black dress. It is so similar to a See by Chloe dress that I tried on in Fenwicks yestserday (£300 plus!) and I thought it could easily pass for a designer piece in terms of style and quality of the fabric. I think it would be a dress that would come out year after year so I am very tempted to order it (Unfortuately they didn’t have my size in store otherwise I would have bought it there and then) Suddenly I found myself picking out at least 5 other pieces that I would happily pop in my basket, including the fine knit black dress (number 1 above) It does not look like much in this photo, but it had a lovely shape and a really gorgeous back. I was also very tempted by the white dress which had an Isabel Marant feel to it. I am looking to invest in a black swimsuit for our upcoming holiday and have been looking at this year’s MUST HAVE swimwear label, Hunza G. It’s a one size fits all crinkle stretch fabric. It’s meant to be really flattering and takes your best shape, with no seams down the sides. Celebrity hype aside, I am quite keen to try this one above because they are meant to be really comfortable and this one is in the sale. I will report back!
Happy Shopping and enjoy the sunshine.
