My go-to look for Spring

There’s one outfit that I tend to default to in the Spring. A statement blouse, my favourite jeans and a pair of flat mules. I use the term ‘statement’ loosely here. It doesn’t mean I have a slogan emblazoned across my chest, and the fabric doesn’t have to be loud and colourful. For me, the statement could be the simple beauty of a plain silk fabric. This is how I would define smart casual. It’s an outfit that works for meetings, lunch with your mum, the school run, early evening drinks, a school function or dinner with friends.

In the warmer months, I always try to wear natural fabrics like silk, cotton and viscose. As the years roll by, I become far less tolerant of sweaty, man-made fibres and have regretted a few recent purchases that looked great on but felt awful against my skin. So in today’s edit you won’t find anything polyester. I have focussed on shirts and blouses made from natural fibres, which means they might be priced a little higher than your average high street prices.

*A few things to look out for – The Kate Moss for Equipment at the Outnet, which are a massive reduction and the La Redoute items which are currently 40% off. *

Yes, this is me too! They double up as a cover up for summer evenings as well! Mine are mainly silk or viscose and that red mint velvet one would fit right in!
I have just splashed out on a silk shirt from jigsaw, it does need the sleeves shortening though, but I’ve got the feeling it’ll be a forever piece. My other purchase this season is this one in my favorite blue:

Sorry about the extra long link!
