My Top 5 Jackets for Spring/Summer

Can you believe that Beast is coming back for Easter? Who on Earth invited him?! This means that we can’t pack away the faux furs and heavy coats just yet,  but I like to think that moment isn’t too far away. So I thought I would do a round up of my top 5 cover ups for Spring/Summer

The Trench Coat

This has to be my new favourite way to cover up. The trench I bought from New Look has a good weight to it, so it’s been warm enough on the colder days we have had.  As I am not tall, I find that a longer length is more flattering.

The Trophy Jacket / Cover Up

Every wardrobe should have a trophy jacket. Something a bit special and a little bit different to your usual cover ups. I had a gorgeous jacket from Zara that I bought many moons ago, and it didn’t survive the cull in my last wardrobe clearout. A little foolish perhaps, but it’s paved the way for something new. I would always keep the rest of my outfit basic ( jeans and a plain tee) and let the jacket do the talking. I have actually ordered the Monsoon jacket – the Isabel Marant look for less (and it’s in the sale!)

Jacket from River Island

The Denim Jacket

One of the most useful items that you can have in your wardrobe. It’s without doubt my favourite summer cover up. Most of you will probably have a much loved denim jacket in your wardrobe, but if you haven’t then here are my favourites…

The Leather Biker

This is the other jacket that I couldn’t live without. Mine is about four years old from Zara and has just got better and better with age, the beauty of leather. I have had a really good trawl and looked at a lot of leather jackets and these three were my favourites. *Don’t forget that La Redoute have 40% off at the moment so their leather jacket would be worth considering.*

The Cargo Jacket

I have just realised that there is only one jacket on this list that I could live without and that’s the Trophy jacket. But the other four, for me, are wardrobe must haves.  I have worn my camo shacket from Topshop to death. It goes with absolutely everything and is also a great layering jacket. Sadly it’s no longer available (but they do have it in the Maternity section) but any of these would be great additions to your wardrobe.

Earth Hour was a great success last night. Pledge aside, what really struck me was how present everyone was. For one hour, no-one was distracted by a screen, and the truth is , that is quite rare these days. We laughed a lot and even though it was only an hour, it was probably the most connected we’ve been as a family of five in a while. We played Dog Bingo twice (a great game if you have children of different ages) told a few stories and tried to work out which was our favourite scented candle. One thing’s for sure, our bedroom has never smelt so good. We had 15 scented candles burning at once so that we had enough light to see the dogs. Perhaps we’ll switch off more often?!

And while I am here I thought I would share a few new purchases with you that you may have seen on instagram this week.

Yes! To all those jackets! The only one I’m missing is a denim jacket, but I’m waiting for a delivery from Finery – it’s a linen jacket, but definately denim vibes. (Just realised if this is a keeper it’ll mean I have five dark blue/ navy jackets – obviously you can’t have too much of a good thing! Just realised it’s 6 with a navy/ red print short kimono style one -oops!) I do like the look of the monsoon denim jacket, so if the Finery one ends up going back….
