Get the Look
The ‘Beast from the East’ has moved West * and the sun was shining this morning, so I am celebrating what feels like Spring with one of my favourite looks. Classic, timeless, comfortable and effortlessly stylish.
*pretty sure that’s not true but it had a good ring to it!

While the trench is undoubtedly a classic wardrobe staple, it doesn’t feel exciting enough for me to ‘invest’ in. I am much more of a handbags and shoes girl and feel that an item like a trench coat can easily be found on the high street. I don’t actually own a trench coat (
shock, horror!), so I have just ordered
this one from New Look. I thought £49.99 was a good price and I really love the colour and the classic details. I will let you know what it’s like when it arrives. I am also extremely tempted to buy these
Dune backless loafers which are such a great copy of the Gucci loafers which I really like, but don’t love enough to save up four hundred and ninety five pounds for.
I adore Mansur Gavriel handbags at the ‘slightly more affordable’ end of the designer handbag price range, but they are still pricey, so if you are in need of a tan leather bucket bag for Spring Summer, then
this one at Mango is definitely worth a look.

And finally the classic white tee.
This v neck linen tee from
Majestic at
The Outnet is half price and looks like great quality. However if you are looking for something a bit more budget friendly, then this mercerised
one from Mango looks very soft for £12.99. Ooh and a little heads up on a pair of jeans that I spotted this morning. My
Topshop Straight jeans are still my current favourites but I wish I had gone down a size as they have stretched. In high waisted jeans, this effectively means that the crotch drops a few centimetres. It doesn’t look that awful but it feels a bit strange…So if you are ordering the Topshop jeans consider ordering a size down. They may be a bit tight at first but I promise they stretch! And if you are still looking for high waisted jeans (remember they elongate your legs if you aren’t tall) then
these look great from H&M. (and are currently reduced!) You are welcome.. 🙂
So while this is only one outfit, every single item would work hard in your wardrobe this Spring Summer.
Happy Shopping and thanks for reading!

I love a trench, I’ve had many over the years, although none have been particularly expensive. I’ve just ‘invested’ in a sale trench, at 50% off it cost me £120, and is navy. I even wore it last week during the deep freeze, with suitable layers underneath!
Being petite I’ve usually gone for short summer versions, and they are hard to come by. I have to go for ones without buckles, buttons etc on the sleeves, as they usually need turning up.
Oh and my top tip is to secure the belt invisably with a safety pin by one of the belt hooks, especially if the trench is in a slippery material as my latest one is.
Will be wearing it with breton, blue jeans and loafers for the spring!
I LOVE this look for Spring as it’s completely timeless and one I recreate every year (works for early autumn too). I’m currently wishing for the Sezane bag ….. it looks so lovely !
Great blog post Chloe, always lots of lovey pointers from you.

Thank you Pia! The Sezane bag is absolutely gorgeous x
Love love a trench, so easy to update and makes an outfit look pulled together. I invested in the classic Burberry several years ago when I had an unexpected windfall and have never regretted it! It comes out every year. Now I need straight jeans (struggling to find the right ones – size 14 pear shape!) and backless loafers…
That was a VERY good buy… The Burberry is a forever piece and I am sure you will get oodles of wear over the years. They never go out of fashion. Don’t talk to me about jeans, it really is a never ending quest… But have you seen the backless loafers on my stories today?!!
Oh I have a not so classic trench from Sonia Rykiel and I love it! I wonder are the more classic shapes coming back in? I think I’m going to invest in an YSL tote/shopper (after having sold a few handbags) a real classic shape but hopefully one that will age well?
I think anything goes when it comes to the trench, and I am sure your Sonia Rykiel one is just perfect! YSL tote will defintely retain it’s value! xxx
Have you come across a clean line single breasted version anywhere? Being a curvy size 10 I need a version without all the bells and whistles!
Oooh I haven’t but will let you know if I spot anything x
Love the Dune shoes! How are they for size? I’m a 4.5, should I go up to a 5? X
I would say rather size up than down xxx
