Sunday is my pamper day. I like to finish off the week with a long soak and really good pamper sesh. We tend to eat dinner really early on Sundays, then head upstairs to wind down and prepare for Monday around 7pm. I usually run myself a big bubble bath, light the candles, put some relaxing music on and tuck into my ‘pamper basket’ of products that I don’t use every day. Facemasks, hair masks, body scrubs and a luxurious body oil for after the bath. After my bath one of my girls gives me a foot massage. They are usually arguing over who it will be as sometimes they are reciprocal, but most of the time I pay them a pound a foot. (We set a timer!)
As you can see from the picture above, I have a footstool type bench next to my bath (which I must be honest is usually covered with clothes) so I usually have one of my four ‘babies’ chatting to me while I soak. More often than not, it’s Sammy. Even though cats hate water, he always seems desperate to get in with me and has even been known to hop onto my bath caddy. Which, by the way, is one of the best things I have bought recently and gets a lot of interest every time I feature it on stories. Ours is from ChunKy Designs on Etsy (£24.99)
If you have a free standing bath it’s brilliant for holding all your pamper products and your favourite candle. Mine even has a slot for a wine glass and an Ipad if that’s your jam!
So with pamper Sunday in mind, I want to share a few simple ways that you can give your bathroom a little lift to make pamper days even more special and give your bathroom a luxe feel.
I picked up our bath mat in H&M Home section, reduced to £10! It is not intended as a bath mat, but because it’s 100% cotton it drys very well. We had our bath tiles coated with a non-slip coating so this little rug doesn’t slip, but I suppose if you have slippery tiles it might not work as well? I find that bath mats can look a little tired after a while, so a new bath mat is a really simple way to give your bathroom a little refresh. H&M Home and La Redoute are brilliant places to source inexpensive items like this and remember to think outside the box. I love the idea of adding a proper rug in a bathroom.

2. A new plant (Homebase £7.99)
Another easy way to inject a bit of life into your bathroom is to add plants. Ferns work particularly well in bathrooms as they soak up the moisture from the shower and don’t need to be watered as often.

3. A new candle(Diptique £24.99)
Turn your bathroom into a virtual spa with a beautifully scented candle. To get the most from your candles, the first burn is the most important. You need to burn it until the melted wax reaches the surrounding jar, then you can extinguish. If you blow it out before it reaches the edge, you get a tunnelling effect. Also make sure that your wick isn’t too long. An untrimmed wick will give you a really big flame that will cause your candle to burn too quickly. My favourite candles are Diptique, Lilou et Loic and Jo Malone.

4. New Towels(Debenhams)
We have always gone for dark towels, as they tend to stay looking fresher for longer. A new set of towels is an easy way to give your bathroom the lift it needs.

5. Luxurious Handwash(Aesop £27)
Okay, I know that £27 for handwash seems a bit ridiculous, but this handwash genuinely makes me feel very happy and pampered. I always put it on my birthday/xmas list and I know it’s safe in my bathroom because I am the only one that uses it. I can also recommend the Compagnie de Provence Liquid Handsoap (£11.99) and the Balance Me Revitalising Handwash (£12.50) which are less expensive but just as pampering.

6. A jar for your cotton pads (Ikea, £3.99)
I use cotton pads to remove my make-up, so I keep them in a jar that I bought in Ikea. It’s a simple but attractive way of storing them.

7. A new PomPom Basket (Sunshine and Shade, Etsy £35)
Our Sunshine and Shade basket holds a plant, but I also have one that holds what I call my ‘overspill’ beauty products. I keep my every day products in our (very large) mirrored cabinet, but the ones I don’t use every day go into one of these pom pom baskets. Baskets are great for extra storage.

8. Bubble Bath (Badedas £4.59 Superdrug)
Over the years I have been given lots of different bath products (mostly by family as I am known as the bath lover) but the one that I always return to is Badedas. It’s a fragrance that evokes happy, safe memories for me, so I tend to favour this over other more expensive brands. However, I think it’s probably a bit like marmite, so other favourites include Laura Mercier Creme Brulee Honey Bath , Ren Moroccan Rose Bath Oil (£30) and Neom Organics Tranquility Bath Foam (£22)

9. Towel Ladder (La Redoute Was £75, now £50)
We have a towel ladder in our bathroom, they look good and don’t take up too much space. La Redoute also have a very nice bamboo one in their sale.

Our Bathroom
A practical way to spruce up your bathroom is to declutter. Throw away all those products that you are saving for a rainy day. Some of them will be well past their use date and some you just know that you’ll never get round to finishing up.
I hope you have a very relaxing Sunday evening.
Love,
Chloe x
Your bathroom is gorgeous… incredibly jealous of that bath! But I think there may be a small child using the loo in one picture (mirror reflection!)
Oh my god that is hilarious. Good spot!!
🙂 thought you’d want to know!
Always. It’s gone xx
I love your bathroom, beautiful. And I am also a big lover of Badedas. We used to have pine bubble baths when we were children and this is the closest I have found to that original smell. I love it.
Oh wow pine bath – how incredible. Oooh just thinking about it makes me want to jump in a bath! 😉
What a beautiful bathroom! Ours is tiny and I have to have all my products on the windowsill. I too love Badedas. But I get bored & hot so quickly in a bath! Just ordered some new bath mats from White Company to spruce things up a bit.
