Many of you that follow on stories have asked me which wallpaper and paint we used so I thought I would pop it on the blog for you.
A leaking loo with a concealed cistern (we learned our lesson) and torn wallpaper meant that our downstairs loo was in desperate need of a little makeover. I really wanted to do something dramatic and dark as it seemed the perfect space to be a little daring. I searched through hundreds of different wallpapers on Wallpaperdirect and finally settled on this one. I had been thinking about painting the understair cupboards, door and ceilings a dark blue and a quick poll on instagram confirmed my decision. I am so pleased we did, because it really does look and feel much bigger. It’s also everyone’s new favourite room in the house. Amazing how such a small space can have such a big impact.
To get the right colour paint, I took the roll of wallpaper to our local paint shop where they scanned it and produced the best colour match. The paint Colour number is 10139, 30BB09126. I am afraid it doesn’t have a name on the tin. It’s a really hard space to photograph because it’s so dark, and if you use a flash it completely changes the colour, but hopefully these photos will give you some idea.
We have an illuminated mirror above the basin which is very effective (& necessary in such a small, dark space) but it wouldn’t be my first choice. I would love to have had wall lights installed either side of a mirror above the basin as in the picture below, but our budget didn’t extend to new lights and a new mirror so we stuck with what we had originally. Actually it looks much better against the navy blue and gold than the lighter colours that we had before.

These were the images that I had pinned on Pinterest for my inspiration.
