When I find something I love, I like to think about a few different ways that I can wear it, to make sure it will work hard enough to be a smart purchase. I fell in love with this satin skirt from H&M, so I’d thought I’d have some fun and style it for you three different ways. Hopefully it might inspire a few ideas that you can apply to existing pieces in your wardrobe. All three looks would be great for these transitional months ahead of us.
Playing with opposites here. The femininity and elegance of the satin skirt is dressed down with trainers, a tee and ‘toughened up’ with a leather biker. I tend to avoid ‘clompy’ trainers when pairing with dresses and skirts. I really love these from Mango, but beware, I am going to need a new packet of Compeed blister plasters…
Going the full hog here with a satin cami, blazer and heels. This is a fairly classic look that could work well for a winter wedding, a posh lunch or a even a dinner date.
I really like this look for autumn. Clashing textures with a cosy knit against the satin. If you aren’t a fan of the ankle boot, then a long boot could look lovely, just make sure that it fits snugly around your ankle. I put on an old pair of long black boots from Whistles that I own, and they looked truly awful because they are too wide at the ankle. Took them off and swapped them for these little ankle boots and the look went from dowdy to a little bit edgy.
I am wearing an old black jumper which has seen better days, so I have decided to replace it with this one from Boden. I love the shape and that it’s 100% cashmere. I might wait for a little discount code though! Every little helps, right? If you haven’t got a classic black jumper in your wardrobe, do think about adding one. They are so useful and when you have one, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it. I am also really keen to get myself a new pair of black ankle boots. As much as I love these Sophia Webster Chiara boots, I find the butterflies at the back really annoying. They seem to knock and catch on everything. They are however, insanely comfortable, so that’s a little challenge for the upcoming months.
I looked at this yesterday and it’s a gorgeous skirt. Live how you’ve styled it …… x
‘Love’ …. I really should pop my specs on before I comment ! Xx
I’ve got that Boden sweater in pink fizz from the spring, it’s got a lovely herring bone rib detail.
My Boden account is showing 15% off at the moment, pretty sure the discount codes are customer specific though. Have you tried logging on, if you’ve got an account, then the code should come up automatically. I never buy full price from Boden, as there is always a discount just around the corner!
I love the third look, you look lovely!
