What, Next?!!

Next is a little bit like M&S and ASOS. You have to sift through the volume of ‘meh’ stuff to find the gems. But there are plenty of gems to find if you have the time. I had a little wander around my local Next the other day and there were a few things that caught my eye, so I thought I would share my picks with you. FullSizeRender 18.jpg

Starting with this already ‘instafamous’ peasant top. Yes, it is popular, but there is a reason why. The quality is excellent and feels way more expensive than it’s £40 price tag. I have it in the blue but am so tempted by the red too. You can wear it now with a top underneath for that extra bit of warmth, and in the summer with your denim shorts and sandals for the perfect boho summer look. What  I love most about Next is that they cater for Petite, Regular and Tall, so you can find the fit that works best for you. I bought it in the Petite (I am 5’4) and the sleeve length is perfect for me.

Charcoal Jumpsuit

I love this jumpsuit which is made from Tencel. A really lovely fabric to wear against your skin. I struggle with jumpsuits since I am 5’4, as they are always too long in the body and I end up getting that saggy bottom look, which is not attractive at all. However, this lovely jumpsuit comes in Petite, Regular, Long and Extra Long, so there’d be no need for shortening. Wear with your trainers for a casual but chic day time look, and swap to a strap heel for an evening out.

I tried this gorgeous little top on. It’s lovely, soft fabric and a great price. (£16) Pair with denim (jeans, skirt or shorts) for a perfect summer look.

Embroidered Dress

Another stunner of a dress, that will sure to have people asking you where you bought it. It looks so much more expensive than it is and would be great to throw on with sandals in the summer for an effortless but striking daytime look.

I still don’t own a red pair of shoes (apart from my Gazelles) and am very tempted to buy these because they are SO comfortable. They’d look great with your blue jeans and a top or a shirt.

Utility Jacket

This would be an excellent buy if you don’t own a utility jacket yet. It’s really great quality and I love the shape of it. The utility jacket goes with almost everything in your wardrobe, but it’s lighter than your leather biker.

Ruffle Sleeve White Shirt

If you are a fan of the fluted sleeve, then this 100% cotton shirt would be a great buy. If I still worked in an office, I would be buying this.

I am in love with this whole outfit. Perfect for a summer garden party or even an evening party.

White Culottes and White Bow Top

I am also a big fan of Next for children’s clothes… Here are my top picks for the girls.

For slightly younger girls this dress is SO pretty.

Embellished Jacket and Embellished Maxi Dress

I love both of these for my girls. The jacket ought to come in adult size!

I had better stop there before my basket fills up too much.

Have a lovely day and happy shopping!

I must admit I long for the days when next was a quality retailer. They didn’t have as much stock, but what they had was amazing and displayed to perfection. The first day of the sales was a nightmare, as office workers would be stocking up on their corporate essentials, and the changing rooms were closed as the queue would otherwise be round the block. I can remember parking my dad in the queue for the checkout, as by the time we’d decided what to buy he’d be closer to the front. I used to buy petite trousers, but these days Boden covers my needs there.
I had a look online recently and thought I’d find a lot when I visited the store, I was disappointed. I tend to only buy other brands front next these days. On the plus side, international delivery is super quick, usually within a couple of days.

  4. Did you try the jumpsuit on? how does it fare with creasing? I have the reverse problem to you in normally the body length is too short and I would get a lovely camel effect!
