I get such a thrill from scouring the high street to find those high street hits. The sort of pieces that have friends gasping in surprise when you tell them where they are from. I spotted this broiderie anglaise frill blouse on the gorgeous SusieSoSo and purchased it immediately. I liked the ‘instafamous’ Monsoon victoriana blouse, but I didn’t love it enough for it’s £59 price tag and it felt a little stiff and uncomfortable on. This one from New Look is half the price and slightly more comfortable to wear as it’s 100% cotton. (The Monsoon blouse is 100% polyester, you know me and natural fibres…)
I am wearing it with a grey cotton vest underneath, but I would probably recommend wearing a flesh coloured vest underneath. I ordered a size 8 so I would say it runs true to size. It also comes in Black which I think could be very useful in the summer and the black version is currently half price! (Buy here)
I have paired with these Petite Navy Button Wide Leg Cropped Trousers, also from New Look. I have been experimenting with wide leg trousers for a while now, and wasn’t convinced they were very ‘me’ but I think it’s about finding a pair that are the perfect length. And it seems a centimetre or two can make all the difference. These are from New Look’s ‘Petite’ range, so they are the perfect length for me (I am 5’4) They would also look great with a pair of white stans and a t-shirt in the summer. I really loved the button detail on the pockets.

I also have to tell you about my ‘revamped’ bag. My husband bought me this YSL clutch for our 10th wedding anniversary and as much as I love it, I wasn’t using it enough because it’s a clutch, which meant I only really used it when we went out somewhere smart (which isn’t that often) So I decided to order a purse chain from Etsy, and I am so thrilled with the result. (I used a tape measure to decide which length chain I needed.)
I was thinking of taking it along to a cobbler to see if they can attach two little rings inside the bag so that I can attach the chain strap properly, but for now I am just linking the two ends of the chain and it works perfectly. (I just need to make sure that the link is under the flap, if you look closely, you’ll see it wasn’t in these pictures) This is the purse chain that I bought…
The other purchase which I made recently and am THRILLED with are these pink suede loafers from H&M. They are like slippers on, and I think they look just as good as the Gucci or Mansur Gavriel loafers for a fraction of the cost. I have no time for uncomfortable shoes, so tend to ‘invest’ when it comes to shoes to ensure comfort, but these are 100% suede and leather and really comfortable, I promise! H&M £34.99
I also ordered this very pretty red floral blouse from H&M. It’s gorgeous on, but I think I will be sending it back because it’s polyester. Lily and Lionel do a very similar blouse in silk which I might have to save up for, but if you don’t mind wearing polyester, it’s a really pretty shape and a great price at £19.99.
Have you found any high street gems recently? If so, I’d love to hear about them!
Love,
Chloe xx
Firstly, I was sorry to hear about your cat. I can imagine how upset you all must be.
Your outfits are, as usual, spot on. Those pink loafers are fantastic, they look so much more expensive than they were. Great for spring, and the pink is so on trend. I totally agree about comfortable footwear, gone are the days when I will suffer in the name of style.
Thank you so much. So kind. 😘😘
Love all of this Chloe 💋 xx
Thank you lovely xx
What a great idea to revamp a clutch – your bag is a just gorgeous – I don’t think you need the guccI one when you’ve got that but then again ….. lol
No, you are right… I don’t need both. Maybe now I’ve made it a shoulder bag I can bank that money (not that I have it!) 😳
I love reading your posts Chloe and as a single mum with limited funds, I’m always pleased to hear about high street finds! I was thinking about the monsoon top but actually like this one more! Thank you! 💜
Oh excellent! xxx
It looks lovely on you Chloe and thank you for the mention. New Look certainly came up with a little goodie this time and I’m inclined to agree that it’s probably softer than the Monsoon one to wear. And those trews – I was eyeing them up but resisted as I thought they would be too long for me. I might have to give them a whirl after all.
PErfect for us shorties… I hate having to take things to the tailor, so I am always happy to find petite ranges that don’t need it!
xx
Great post again. Really wanted to see someone wearing those h&m loafers to get an idea of the colour and shape so thanks. Don’t know if this is the done thing but I’d really love to hear (read) your ideas on spring outerwear. I know bombers and baseball jackets still seem to be everywhere but I’m really looking for alternatives and always really rate your recommendations and finds.
P.S. hope you’re all alright after the loss of your Lilah. Best wishes
I’m on it! xx And thank you re Lilah xx
Oh Chloe – what have you done?! I’m going to have to get the blouse, culottes and loafers now! Gorgeous finds as usual. So sorry to hear about Lilah xx
Sorry! 🙂
Thanks lovely xx
New to your blog, it’s fab! Love the idea of putting a chain on a clutch but the etsy link is not working for me unfortunately, any chance you could let me have the details. Thank you x
So sorry, I think I may have just fixed the link. Let me know if not.xx
I thought I was the only one who had problems with that Monsoon shirt! There are times when synthetic is ok, but in that lace design, no. I’ll have to go look at the 100% cotton then – and maybe size up to a 10 as I put stuff in the dryer (my American habit). As for high street deals – I just ordered a coat from Mango for £20!
Amazing idea with the bag. I have a few that I don’t use that often for this very reason. Thanks! X
Hi Chloe,
Please can you tell me where your jeans are from? I still love the fit of the Zara black ones you recommended. Thank you very much, Louise xx
I have so many pairs of jeans. Did you have a particular style in mind? I also recommend trying the Jamie Moto ankle grazers from Topshop. Good fit!
