As we step into the new year, with a spring cleaning, de-cluttering mindset, when it comes to fashion, there is one mantra that we should always try to have in the back of our minds. And that is buying less and choosing well. When I look at my wardrobe, there are far too many items that I bought because of the thrill of the purchase, and because they were inexpensive, but this is not a very savvy way to shop. Those inexpensive, badly made, fast fashion items just aren’t worth your pennies if you think about their longevity, not to mention the landfill factor. So this year, I want to try and focus on buying from brands that I love, because of the quality of their fabrics, intelligent designs and because I know I will wear these items time and again. In the latter part of this year, I made a conscious decision not to even look in the ladies section of Primark. If I didn’t look, I couldn’t be tempted by the cute looking £12 shirt that would fall apart after one wear. I must admit that I did buy a few things for the children, mainly because they wreck their clothes and grow out of them far too quickly, but most of those things ended up being one hit wonders that lost their shape and were relegated to the charity pile after a few wears.
If I scan my wardrobe, some of my favourite pieces are from Hush. Great basics that I have worn to death and they still look good. Admittedly most of these items were either bought at sample sales or in their sale, because I love a bargain and do have a budget to stick to, but even at full price they are a reasonable price point for the quality that you are getting. Their sale started today, so I thought I would do a little edit of the items that I think would be good, longevity buys that would work well with a capsule wardrobe.
Fine Katie Crew Jumper – was £65 now £45 – Buy here
This super soft jumper has a relaxed fit and comes in both Burgundy and Charcoal Marl. Both colours would be excellent choices. Pair with your jeans and smart flats or boots, or skirts.
Breton Jumper – Was £75 now £55 – Buy here
Another wardrobe staple. This is showing low stock so you would need to be quick!
Denim Shirt – Was £49 now £25 – Buy here
The denim shirt is a wardrobe staple. So useful for layering or wearing alone.
Cashmere Boyfriend Jumper – Was £185 now £130 – Buy here
This would be a very smart buy. Great for pairing with skinny jeans to balance the volume of the jumper. When it comes to knitwear, I always try to wear cashmere or merino, and buy in the sales if I can. This jumper comes in black, grey, red, ivory and camel.
Second Skin Crew Tee – Was £25 now £20 – Buy here
I have a couple of Hush t-shirts and they are great quality. This looks like a slightly tighter fitting tee, so if you don’t want it tight I would advise sizing up one size. A clever purchase for the spring/summer ahead of us. Only a few sizes left…
Harley Jeans- Were £70 now £45 – Buy here
These have a good stretch to them and a cool biker feel with their zips and stitched panel details. If you read the reviews, the advice is to size down. (When you try jeans on, they should always be very snug, as anything with elastane will stretch during the day) These also sit higher on the waist, so no muffin top!
Cashmere Boyfriend Cardigan – Was £220 now £140 – Buy here
You are either a boyfriend cardigan person or you aren’t, but if you are, then now is the time to buy! Not many sizes left and this will sell out very quickly so don’t delay.
Those are the pieces that I believe would be smart buys. If you are in the market for any of these items, then don’t wait because things sell out very quickly in the Hush sale.
PS Remember you can also search by size, to make it less frustrating!
Love,
Chloe x
Sitting here feeling very comfy and Chic in beautiful hush cashmere cardi you recommended. Also bought black Hush joggers and white t to go with! Everyone in my house gives thumbs up. Totally Bliss! X
Oh fab! So so pleased you like! Enjoy the stylish coziness! 😉😘
Chloe does Hush cashmere pill easily? I haven’t bought cashmere from them before but I have bought a knit cardi that was a combination of fabrics – it pilled after two wears. Hush were very good about it and refunded me after I sent it back. I know all knits pill but I don’t want to have to sit with a cashmere comb and depill every time I wear a jumper. It’s why I mostly buy merino – apparently finer knits are less likely to pill and I have never had a problem with merino. However, the few cashmere bits I have – from Uniqlo and Whistles – have lasted very well without pilling too much. Have also read good things about Boden cashmere, Gap and m&S but not yet tried.
To be brutally honest, I don’t own anything cashmere from Hush. All my jumpers from them are lambswool or merino… you definitely shouldn’t have to comb after every wear!! My cashmere is mostly from Wyse, Me+Em and Chinti and Parker and husbands all from Boden and M&S. All pretty good!!
