3 Different looks for NYE

I started writing a blog post about my year and the things I had planned to work on in 2017, but then I had a thought. Who would care? People follow me because of my interest in fashion, and for outfit inspiration, so I abandoned that post (although not a pointless exercise, I highly recommend jotting it all down, it means you really focus on it) and decided to put together a few different outfit ideas for New Year’s Eve instead. Probably a bit late considering most of you will have planned your outfits weeks ago, but it has a dual purpose. I have shopped the sales and each outfit features a sale item.

Look 1 – Boyfriend Jeans, an oversized knit and sparkly shoes

I am actually wearing my husband’s cashmere jumper here. It’s a little too oversized, but I realised that all the jumpers I own are a bit too fitted and I needed something really slouchy.

But the shoes! They are the business. And now in the Topshop Sale for a bargain £18.

Look 2 – A Black suit and strappy heels

This tuxedo jacket is from &Otherstories (buy here) and it has been so useful. I love to wear it with a hoody or a jumper underneath, it just adds a bit of edge to an outfit.  The trousers are old from Zara and not my favourite but you get the idea. And the shoes, which are currently in the Very Exclusive Sale, are Alexander Wang and a great price for such a classic shoe. Buy here

Look 3 – A sparkly top and skinnies

The sparkly top is in the Topshop sale. Buy here

I have paired it with step hem skinnies and my New Look strappy heels. (Which I wear a lot and cost me less than £20. They are so comfy and a really great height. Buy here)

And finally, the look I will probably go for later, as we are heading to the pub late afternoon with friends, then heading home for a quietish evening in front of the telly with a very nice bottle of Burgundy (of course!)

The jacket is another sale purchase (Buy here from Topshop) and I think will be a useful addition to my wardrobe. It makes a nice change from a long coat. I am wearing it with skinnies, my Chloe boots and my Bella Freud jumper, which happen to be my two favourite purchases of the year. It looks great worn up with the funnel neck done up and is really soft. I’d be quick though, as it is currently ‘trending’ so selling out quickly!

Wishing you all a really fun evening whatever you are up to, and here’s to a healthy and happy 2017 for all.

Much love,

Chlo x

Thank you for all of your posts on your blog and on instagram, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading them this year! I’d definitely be interested in the “other” blog post you decided not to post, in case you change your mind! I find myself more and more only buying items I’ve seen on the bloggers I follow, or ones that have been suggested by them. You’ve all helped me make better choices. As we head into 2017 (when I, like you, will turn 40), I definitely need to list down my resolutions, a fashion one of which is not to buy boring clothes, but ones which have a little something different about them. This year will be a big year for me, maybe my braces will come off (here’s hoping!) and I may well move back to the UK and return to work, but who knows! Wishing you and yours a wonderful 2017 and I look forward to more great pics and blog posts! Jo x

I think a post on what you want to achieve in 2017 is a great idea! Yes I follow lots of people because of my love of fashion but these people begin to feel like your friends and I always think you sit back and take notice when a friend tells it to you straight. Sometimes we all need a little push to get us moving in the direction we want to be going. I know that for the last year I have been procrastinating about starting my own blog. Will someone read it, will they think I’m crazy, will it just be a waste of my time????? Then I read your post on starting your blog and I felt much better. We are not alone in our fears. So as I sit in the the local trampoline centre watching three lovely little girls (my own included) enjoying life I am going to take your advise and just go for it. Life is too short to give any real credit to what other think. Sometimes you just have to go for it! That and my husband will be glad to see that new iPad Pro he bought actual;y getting used. Have a great new year!

    • Oh you are sweet. Maybe I will share after all. I never know how much people want to hear, whether anyone’s actually interested in the personal stuff but you are so right about people you follow feeling like friends. I constantly ask myself whether I share too much (on stories) and write lots of things I never publish. But really what have I got to lose. So thank you for that pep talk and here’s to you and your new start next year… big kiss! X

Look #1 was my favourite and seems like just a fancy nice weekend out outfit – not just for NYE (which I generally spend on the sofa with a great movie and nice food as I have a dog terrified of fireworks)
