We have had a truly spoiling and wonderful summer and the holiday blues are bubbling beneath the surface, but I am determined not to let them take hold. Because if I really think about it, I love this time of year…
1. The children are heading back to school which means a quiet, tidy house and the return of the routines of term time which results in fewer battles about screen-time, gannet like fridge raiding and a permanently full laundry basket. (My children don’t know how to fold away clothes that aren’t dirty. EVERYTHING, and I mean everything, gets chucked in the washing.)
2. All three children and I celebrate our birthdays in September, October and November and although the headache of organising their birthday parties slightly takes the joy out of my own birthday, this year my husband has something exciting up his sleeve for mine.
3. I absolutely LOVE December. It’s my favourite month of the year. There is something very magical and rewarding about being a parent at this time of the year. I love decorating the house, feeling festive and cosy, and working our way through the calendar of festive family events that have become tradition over the years.
4. The beginning of autumn means that we can start shopping for a few seasonal updates to our wardrobes. The perfect way to spend a few hours when the children are back at school (or tucked up in bed!) I have done a little edit of one of my favourite trends this season. Yes, the rock star motif is back and it is time to twinkle. With something to suit all budgets, whether you are a complete constellation convert or prefer the more subtle nod to the trend, I hope you’ll spot something you like.
And finally, the perfect way to give your outfit an edgy vibe (a la Queen Moss) add this skinny star scarf from New Look for a bargain £4.99!! Almost identical to the Kate Moss for Equipment scarf which sold out.
And if you like the Stella star jeans but can’t afford the real thing, then how about these from New Look for £29.99.
And now for the most beautiful star of all, this stunning Edie Harrop travel bag which may or may not have ended up on it’s way to me late one night this week. I have been lusting after this bag for ages then I spotted it in their sale.. How on earth I am going to pay for it is a whole other story… No-one tell my husband, ok?
Thanks for reading and happy shopping!
