A/W Trend : Ballet Beautiful

I lived and breathed ballet until I was about 19, so naturally I am very excited about the ballet inspired trend for this Autumn/Winter. But with all seasonal trends, one has to be careful not to overdo it.
I would avoid styling the way I have above (this look was put together purely for the post, but I can’t tell you how nostalgic and lovely it felt!) and preferably stick to one ballet inspired item per outfit. I have put together a few different looks to give you some ideas.
Look 1
Roll Neck Jumper (H&M – £24.99)
Boyfriend Trashed Jeans (H&M – £24.99)
Ballet Slippers (Zara – £39.99)
Look 2
Zoe Karssen Slogan tee (TheOutnet.c0m – £39.10
Grey Tulle Skirt (ASOS – £50.00)
Converse (Office – £44.99)
Look 3
Metallic Sweater (Zara -17.99)
Black Tulle Skirt (ASOS – £50)
Slingback heels (Zara – £15.99)
Look 4
Zara Leather Biker £119.99
Zoe Karssen ‘Kiss’ T-shirt –now £39.10
Zara Patch cigarette jeans – £39.99
Zara ballet leather – £45.99
To give a tulle skirt a fun, ‘edgy’ look,  wear it with a slogan t-shirt, sweatshirt  or jumper and converse.
For dressier occasions, tulle skirts can look so elegant and sophisticated worn with a pair of heels and a plain jumper. J Crew’s Tippi sweaters are a firm favourite of mine for wearing with skirts.
Here are my ‘ballet shoe’ picks from the high street.

1. Zara leather ballet flats – £39.99
2. Zara Heeled Ballerinas – £17.99
3. Next ballet slippers – £28
4. Zara Heeled Taupe Ballerinas – £17.99
5. ASOS Lydia Ballet Flats – £18
6. Mango Lace Up Ballerinas – £35.99
7. Zara Leather Ballet Flats – £49.99
8. ASOS Buckle Flats – £25

And here are some tulle skirt options, but don’t forget to look on Ebay too.

1. Needle and Thread Ballet Skirt – now £105
2. Zara Nude Pink Tulle Skirt – £19.99
3. Zara Midi Tulle Dress – £29.99
4. ASOS Tulle Prom Skirt – £50
5. ASOS Tulle Prom Skirt (navy) – £50
6. Boohoo Tulle Skirt – £20
Remember, these trends are ‘fast fashion’ and come and go very quickly, so DON’T spend a fortune. I bought my tulle skirt from an Ebay Seller for £12 and it’s really soft tulle, unlike the tutu’s I used to wear! If you already own a pair of ballet pumps that you love, why not get creative with your own ribbon. All you need is a needle and thread. Here’s what I have done to my favourite pumps…

And here is a little ballet inspiration via Pinterest to get you in the mood…
Thanks for reading and happy shopping!
