I lived and breathed ballet until I was about 19, so naturally I am very excited about the ballet inspired trend for this Autumn/Winter. But with all seasonal trends, one has to be careful not to overdo it.
I would avoid styling the way I have above (this look was put together purely for the post, but I can’t tell you how nostalgic and lovely it felt!) and preferably stick to one ballet inspired item per outfit. I have put together a few different looks to give you some ideas.

To give a tulle skirt a fun, ‘edgy’ look, wear it with a slogan t-shirt, sweatshirt or jumper and converse.
For dressier occasions, tulle skirts can look so elegant and sophisticated worn with a pair of heels and a plain jumper. J Crew’s Tippi sweaters are a firm favourite of mine for wearing with skirts.
Here are my ‘ballet shoe’ picks from the high street.

Remember, these trends are ‘fast fashion’ and come and go very quickly, so DON’T spend a fortune. I bought my tulle skirt from an Ebay Seller for £12 and it’s really soft tulle, unlike the tutu’s I used to wear! If you already own a pair of ballet pumps that you love, why not get creative with your own ribbon. All you need is a needle and thread. Here’s what I have done to my favourite pumps…
